Shawano Masonic Lodge #170 held it’s annual Scholarship Recipient Picnic on Thursday evening August 3rd, 2017. The rain forced us inside for the first time in 7 years, but the 50 plus members in attendance as well as the students and their families enjoyed an excellent pulled pork dinner catered by Parruthead’s Tact-i-que Smokehouse. Shawano School District Pupil Services Director, Karen Smith, provided the students with an inspirational message on the importance of education, following their dreams and becoming involved in the community. Secretary of the Lodge, Jim Campbell spoke of the 149 year History of Shawano Masons and the 37 year history of the Masonic Scholarship Program where they have given nearly $200,000 to graduates from the six public high schools in Shawano County.
Those in attendance are pictured L to R: Butch and Sara Froemming with their son Mitchell, our Bonduel Recipient; Our Witt-Birn Recipient, Preston Bagley and his mother Debbie; one of our Shawano Recipients, Grace Jones with her parents Sally and Tim Jones. In the back row is Shawano Lodge Secretary, Jim Campbell; Our guest speaker, Karen Smith; and Shawano Masonic Lodge Worshipful Master, Brandon Nygaard.
